G1PS Foreigners’ Committee
G1PS Foreigners’ Committee is an inter-branch initiative addressing socioeconomic struggles and unionizing potential of people living in Lithuania and seen as «migrants», «not [quite] Lithuanian», «foreign workers» etc.
We are aiming to build a mutual-support network and self-reliant community, reclaiming our voice and opposing anti-migrant policies and xenophobic narratives in Lithuania.
Foreigners’ Committee creates a platform for G1PS members identifying as foreigners or migrants to self-organize, share knowledge, resist alienation and grow solidarity across languages, backgrounds and personal stories.
The goal of the Committee is to raise awareness of migrants’ issues within and beyond May 1st Labor Union and unionize foreign workers. We also are aiming at engaging Lithuanian workers in the struggle for democracy at the workspace and better working rights for all.
G1PS Foreigners’ Committee activity grows from the experience of being a migrant, a foreigner, a not-enough-Lithuanian. Each side of this experience is valid and can be the ground for solidarity and mutual-support.
We invite you to contribute to shaping Foreigners’ Committee agenda by sharing your experience or struggle with: borders / MIGRIS / workplace / racism / stereotypes / identity / friendship / transport / daily needs / hateful comments / disrespect / uncertainty / bureaucracy / or something else:
