The Lithuanian Platform Workers' Trade Union (LPDPS) unites people working in transportation, food, parcel delivery and other digital platforms and protects the economic, social and labour rights and interests of workers. The LPDPS represents workers at Bolt, Wolt, Last Mile, Uber and other digital platform companies. LPDPS is part of the May 1st Trade Union (G1PS).

The LPDPS was founded in 2025 as a result of a merger between the former Courier Association and the Bolt drivers, who were seeking recognition of their labour relations. The LPDPS works to ensure that workers on digital platforms are free from exploitation and discrimination, work in safe and healthy working conditions, and are paid a fair wage. The LPDPS makes recommendations to public authorities and seeks to promote workers' solidarity.

This year is a critical one for platform workers—under the EU Directive on Platform Work, all member states must adopt new legislation by the end of 2026. The European Union’s Platform Work Directive aims to improve working conditions for couriers and ride-hailing drivers, as well as ensure data protection and algorithmic transparency on other types of platforms (such as Airbnb or Treatwell). However, business models like Bolt or Wolt are drawing the most discussion and attention, as these types of platforms unilaterally set pay and other working conditions. LPDPS has made significant progress in the implementation of the EU directive by submitting proposals to the tripartite council, legally representing workers, and resisting pressure from platforms. However, to achieve the best results, we need a strong base—the more of us there are, the stronger our negotiating position and the more we can achieve for the benefit of workers.

Anyone aged 14 or over who works for a digital platform company can become a member of the LPDPS and join the union. The membership application form is filled in via the g1ps system (please indicate on the form that you are joining the LPDPS). LPDPS members pay a fixed monthly membership fee of €5, payable to the May 1st trade union centre (G1PS) account. For more information on the benefits of membership, rights and obligations.

Why you should become a member of LPDPS:

  • the right to vote at G1PS general assemblies,

  • the right to receive comprehensive labor law consultations and legal representation at Labor Dispute Commission hearings,

  • the opportunity to participate in training organized by G1PS and in our partners’ international projects

  • the opportunity to receive financial support in the event of financial difficulties.

The membership fee is not only a financial contribution but also an expression of solidarity and mutual trust, allowing us to build a strong, active, and influential trade union together.
